JavaScript Job: Front-End Developer

Are you a confident Front-End Developer who enjoys bringing mockups to life? Passionate about sharing ideas, and in-depth discussions along side like minded individuals? If so, Helcim is searching for a talented Front-End Developer to join our team and help assist in our mission to become the world’s most loved payments company. Working within one of Canada’s Most Admired Company Cultures, this individual will fill a critical and central role, that will work within the Design Team while collaborating with cross-functional business groups including Product Managers, Software Developers and other stakeholders. The ideal candidate will embody our values and culture, and be a steward of The Way of the Helcim (see link below to our culture book).

What You’ll Do

• Prototype and implement UI applications with a user-focused approach
• Identify constraints before and during implementation and propose solutions that optimize execution and speed up the coding process
  
• Work with Helcim’s Design System to apply software engineering best practices and the latest frontend development techniques to produce high-performance UI applications
• Interact regularly with Product Designers and Backend Developers on project requirements, constraints, and improvements

Who You Are

• Ability to develop without the use of stacks or CMS systems… we don’t really like that stuff, we build!
• A high level of proficiency in HTML, SCSS
• Confident working with Flexbox and Grid
• Knowledge of JS techniques, principles, and frameworks
• Able to create various JavaScript DOM interactions by manipulating data and components together
• High personal standard for quality of design and execution of work
• Comfortable working on large and complex projects in Vue.js… yes we use Vue
• Experience using design tools including Figma and Adobe XD
• Meticulous attention to every single pixel… we don’t really mean “every single :)”
• In-depth understanding of SEO methodologies
  
• Always willing to take constructive criticism… we are nice but candid
• Collaborative attitude that prioritizes teamwork over individual work
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, combined with strong interpersonal skills… don’t worry, don’t need to be Shakespeare
• Must provide a portfolio of coded projects this is the most important component of the application

Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada and be located in Calgary for this position. Helcim uses a hybrid work structure where team members can work 3 days in the Calgary office (Monday/Wednesday/Friday) and 2 days (Tuesday/Thursday) at home.
